MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN STENY H. HOYER
Hurricane Irene poses a serious threat to our area. I urge residents of the Fifth District to take all necessary precautions in preparation for this major storm and to help your friends and neighbors prepare as well. This includes preparing for the possibility of long power outages and road closures. For those of you who live along our waterways, please consider moving to higher ground.
I commend Governor O’Malley for declaring a State of Emergency for Maryland in advance of the storm to ensure all resources are available. I will continue to work with Governor O’Malley and local and federal officials to ensure that we are properly prepared before, during and after the storm and to address any problems that arise as a result of it.
For the latest storm and emergency planning information, please visit Maryland’s Emergency Management Agency’s website.
As always, thank you for allowing me to share this update with you and please continue to share your concerns and insights with me by contacting my office.
With warmest regards, I am
Sincerely yours,

Steny H. Hoyer
