For more than a year, I’ve been reaching out to manufacturers, trade associations, labor groups, think tanks, and academics, to identify and discuss ways we can help more people Make It In America. The Democrats’ “Make It In America” plan is an important initiative to create jobs and grow the economy by investing in education, innovation, and creating the conditions for businesses to launch and expand. By strengthening American manufacturing, this plan will create jobs and help companies grow in sectors across our economy.
I’m committed to promoting job growth in our state so that more businesses, and more families, can Make It In America and right here in Maryland. Businesses are growing here, creating jobs here, and innovating here, and it has been both informative and inspiring to meet with local manufacturers and learn about both their successes and challenges as we work towards creating a level playing field for American and Maryland manufacturers.
This afternoon, I will host a Make It In America press conference to highlight the Democrats’ focus on job creation and unveil a Make It In America documentary featuring members of the Democratic Caucus, labor leaders, and manufacturers, including a couple here in the Fifth District. I will share this documentary with you, as well, and I hope you’ll consider watching it and sharing it with your friends and family.
Finally, I encourage you to participate in a Twitter Town Hall following today’s press conference. From 4:00-5:00 p.m., you can participate in a conversation about how we can work to create jobs and ensure that all of us have the opportunity to Make It In America.
