Today marks the beginning of the third annual Member Online All-Star Competition, a friendly competition I am hosting that will encourage my Democratic colleagues to continue to engage with their constituents online. With over 50% of adult Americans now active on Facebook, and over 15% now active on Twitter, social media is an important way to connect with constituents. It provides another opportunity to share news and information about what’s happening on Capitol Hill and in the Fifth District, and allows you to share your thoughts with me.
By connecting with me on these social media sites, we can quickly and effectively communicate with each other. I hope that you will share and comment on the updates I provide, and I’d also like to invite you to suggest content. The new Facebook Timeline format allows users to share a cover photo on their page, so I’m asking you to submit your favorite high quality photos taken in Maryland to be considered for use as the cover photo on my Facebook page. To submit, please send the photo, along with your name and where the photo was taken, to firstname.lastname@example.org. I will post the top photos on my Facebook page and announce the winner on Friday, August 3rd. Click here for more information.
I hope you’ll connect with me on these social media sites, if you haven’t done so already:
