Update My Profile

While our economy continues to recover, I wanted to share some welcome news today – Maryland created 9,800 new jobs in September. That’s the largest number of new jobs created over the past 29 months, and a welcome sign that our economy is growing.

I’m pleased that Maryland has created 25,000 new jobs in the past year alone, but we need to do more. That’s why I’ve been focused on the Make It In America plan, which aims to strengthen manufacturing and create well-paying jobs.  This plan I’m leading in Congress makes priority investments in education, innovation, and infrastructure, which will boost American competitiveness and help expand the middle class.  Since the initiative was introduced in the 111th Congress we’ve passed several Make It In America bills that are helping businesses grow and putting Americans back to work. I’m hopeful we can continue to build on these gains, and pass additional bills so more Maryland businesses and families can succeed.

While the federal government must do its part, the state government is also helping to bring down unemployment and put Marylanders back on the job. Governor O’Malley’s administration is working hard to connect employers with potential hires, and has established the Maryland Workforce Exchange – a one stop center to find job openings and helpful career information. Click here to visit the site, and I encourage you to share this important resource with family, friends, and others in your community.

As always, thank you for allowing me to share this update with you, and please continue to share your concerns and insights with me by contacting my office or connecting with me on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.

With warmest regards, I am

Sincerely yours,

Steny H. Hoyer
