I wanted to share an important update with you on two opportunities available for Fifth District students through my office:
Annual Service Academy Open House
Next month, on Monday, April 8th from 6 – 8 p.m., I will be hosting the Annual Service Academy Open House at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro. The Open House is an opportunity for all Fifth District students to learn more about how to apply for a nomination to four of the United States Military Service Academies. The Air Force Academy, the Merchant Marine Academy, the Military Academy at West Point, and the Naval Academy all require a nomination from an authorized nominating source. Members of my staff and the Service Academy Selection Board, as well as representatives from each service academy, will be in attendance at the Open House. In addition, a representative of the U.S. Air Force will make a presentation on the vast opportunities of a military career. I encourage all interested Fifth District students to attend. Fifth District Congressional Art Competition
I’d also like to invite Fifth District students to submit artwork for the Fifth District Congressional Art Competition, an annual contest that gives students a chance to have their artwork displayed in the U.S. Capitol and in my Congressional office for one year. All artwork must meet set criteria, which you can find here. The winning entry of the competition is selected by a panel of Fifth District artists. Please deliver your artwork to either my district office in Waldorf or my district office in Greenbelt by Wednesday, April 24th at 5:00 p.m.
As always, thank you for allowing me to share this update with you. Please contact Stefanie Carey with my office at (301) 843-1577 with questions about these events. I also encourage you to connect with me on Facebook, Twitter, or YouTube.
