A MESSAGE FROM CONGRESSMAN STENY H. HOYER

I'm deeply disappointed that many civilian defense employees at Pax River, Webster Field, Indian Head, and other defense installations are beginning furloughs today as a result of Congress's failure to work together to replace the automatic spending cuts known as sequestration with a balanced alternative to deficit reduction. I share the frustration of many of those who are being furloughed both inside and outside the gates of our defense installations, and I wanted to share a message with you on the need for Congress to replace the irrational policy that is causing them.

As I stated in the video, the furloughs caused by sequestration will have a significant impact on our community and our national security. I remain committed to replacing the sequester in its entirety with a balanced alternative to deficit reduction. In an effort to highlight the urgency of doing so, please visit my Facebook page and connect with me on Twitter and share how the sequester and its resulting furloughs are impacting you and your family. I’ll be sharing your stories with my colleagues over the coming weeks as I continue to urge them to work together to replace the sequester and end furloughs for all federal employees.

Thank you for allowing me to share this update with you.

With warmest regards, I am,

Sincerely yours,

Steny Hoyer Signature
