Have you ever thought how convenient it would be if there was one central location where you could find information about all your health insurance options and shop for the plan that best suits your needs? Well, now there is.
Yesterday, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services launched HealthCare.gov, a revolutionary new resource to give consumers access to all their health care options, their rights as patients, and the benefits of the new health insurance reform law.
HealthCare.gov, which was a key feature for consumers we included in the health reform legislation, hosts a wealth of straight-forward, jargon-free information, including an options finder that will help you navigate the complicated process of shopping for health insurance.
All you need to do is answer a few basic questions, and the finder will generate a list of all your private and public health insurance options. The tool will list details of insurance plans offered in Maryland and in and around your zip code and include contact information for each company or program. Then, beginning in October, you will also be able to find pricing information, so you can instantly compare plans based on both cost and quality.
Whether you're a new college graduate, a small business owner, a family who recently lost insurance or someone who is unable to obtain coverage because of a pre-existing condition this site has a list of insurance options available for you. I urge all Marylanders to use HealthCare.gov so you can make the most informed decisions about the health care coverage that works best for you and your family.
